WE HAVE ARRIVED!!!!! It is soooooooooooo beautiful here in this RV Resort. Surrounded by jagged mountains and Lake Havasu behind us.

It is a spotless RV Resort, just spotless.

We seem to be close to everything, which is nice.

Now you can email me as I will not do the blog for quite a while.

Until later,

Peggy

October 24, 2009

Today we leave Bakersfield for Lake Havasu. It is a little over 300miles and a good 7 hour drive. I will follow Ken in the car over the pass Tehachapi so he can get a good run with the motorhome as we are loaded to the hilt. Then at the top we will hook the car back onto the motorhome.

I forgot to tell you all but the first night here in Bakersfield around 8 PM I heard sirens and a helicopter right outside the gate of the RV Park, about 1 block. The next morning 2 retired, married, man and woman cops from Portland were walking their little dog and they told us the helicopter had his spotlight on the car they were chasing!! I swear, thought we were in the middle of a filming of "COPS!!!" Think all the Bakersfield police cars were out there as the sirens sounded like 100. Exciting.

We will try to get out of here by 8 AM and get to Havasu by at least 4 or 4:30.

We went to a store yesterday called Food Maxx and what a produce section they had. We went crazy buying veggies like they were going out of style. Very inexpensive too.

Well, more when we get settled in Havasu. Stay warm.

October 23, 2009

We have arrived in Bakersfield, CA. Such a nice city. We are at the A Country RV Park and we love this park. We are parked next to our neighbors we were next to the last time we were here, another retired electrician!!!

We are going to wash the motorhome today as it is a little dirty. They allow that here in this park. I will do laundry as well.

My daughter's significant other's Mom had a massive stroke last week and she is in a critical Rehab home to assist her in coming back to herself, if it is possible. She still can't swallow so it is hard for her. Her left side is paralized and she will need extensive rehab to help her. She is talking though.

We will stay here in Bakersfield for 2 days and just relax as it is a 7 hour drive to Lake Havasu.

Weather here in beautiful. Much warmer in Havasu though.

Until later,

Peggy

October 22, 2009

Good Morning from Lodi, California:

Let me tell you about these California drivers!!!!! They are the worst. We had our blinker on to pass a herd of trucks on I 5 and here comes this pickup we thought was going to hurry up and pass us but nooooooooooooooooo, he stopped right next to us and just sat there!!! When you are driving one of these big machines, you need to get a run at some of the hills but this time especially towing a car and loaded to the hilt, we couldn't get the momentum we needed to get going and this jerk didn't help at all!! Ken finally blew that loud diesel horn and he moved like he was shot, think he had to go back home to change his shorts too!!!

We got to Lodi early yesterday and was so nice to just get the coach ready and sit and relax for a while.

We went to dinner about 5, decided to hit the Travel America Buffet and not cook. Not bad. They do have pretty good food and easy access to fuel pumps as well.

We will go to Bakersfield today and then tomorrow leave for our destination in Lake Havasu.

Enjoy your day as our weather here is gorgeous. It was 76 here and just perfect. Supposed to be that again today.

Until later,

Peggy

October 21, 2009

Good California Morning!!

It was in the 70's when we arrived in Redding about 4:30 and so nice and warm. Got all hooked up, walked across the street to the restrooms and we both took a long, hot shower, separately, of course. Then we came back to the coach and cooked dinner, did dishes and sat down to watch TV. We both got tired at 9:30 so went to bed. It was so quiet here as well and we both got really great sleep.

Ken is having trouble getting his breath this morning so I am hoping when we get to Havasu I can convince him to see a Pulmonary doctor. Cross your fingers. I want to tell you men though, you are terrible patients!!!! You are very stubborn.

Today we will try to get to Bakersfield but it is 433 miles away and a long drive. Too much for Ken but he does surprise me.

They are calling for rain so hopefully the roads won't be too bad.

More later,

Peggy

October 20, 2009

Wow, did it ever rain!!! Then it stopped and stayed nice and warm.

We did our grocery shopping and came home and got ready to go to dinner with our friends Bob and Colleen. We had so much fun with then as we always do. Then we went up to see their home before it sells, and beautiful it is. We visited for a while then they followed us back to the motorhome as Ken had brought the rest of Bob's electric drill box and whatever else went with it. (Guy stuff)

Today we leave for points south. Not sure where we will stop tonight, playing it by ear. We both got so much rest last night and neither of us woke up until after 5 this morning. We went to bed at 9:00!!!!! We really needed the sleep and rest. Now we will be ready for our trip.

So now I just want to drink my coffee with my husband, relax, watch the news on TV and get ready to start our journey by 10:00.

Until later,

Peggy

October 19, 2009

Good Morning: Deerwood was sooooooooooo quiet and peaceful!!! It is such a beautiful RV Park.

Guess Ken had to sleep on the couch at about 3 am as he said I was 'practicing' for the opera!! Poor guy, we both snore but I go to sleep before he does so that's the rule "the first one that goes to sleep says asleep!!" So he got stuck with Coco at his feet.

Today it is going to rain but we don't care. We are just going to relax and enjoy NOT packing or moving!!!

We will visit with our friends, Bob and Colleen and see their home before they sell it and go to dinner as well.

Then in the morning, about 10 am, we will get started towards Arizona!!

Until later,

Peggy

October 18, 2009

Today at 10:00 am we leave for the first leg of our new journey. We will go to Eugene, Oregon for 2 days just to relax and visit with our friends. We need the rest, believe you me.

We had dinner at the Olive Garden last night with our friends Lee and Patty Feigum and will miss them so much. Hopefully, when Patty retires in April (or before) they will drive to Lake Havasu, AZ and visit with us for a day or two or longer.

More later as our journey proceeds southward.

Until later,

Peggy

June 6, 2009

Morning All:
We have arrived back in Washington and it is hot!!

We met our friends from Eugene for dinner last night in Kennewick and had a great time. As Colleen put it, "we had to drive from Arizona together to meet each other in Washington!" So true. But hopefully we can meet again on the Oregon Coast this summer.

It is windy today so won't be doing too much outside. We do have to unload this motor home soon as I have laundry to do! Thank goodness for my own washer and dryer.

We have had a great journey and hope to continue it soon but for now we are going to stay put, get the house in order to sell and just kick back.

I will start my blog again once we get on the road and will email you all to let you know.

Thank you for being such good friends and keeping up with us on the blog. I had fun doing it.

Spidey will be going home this week but will miss him/her. It has been a good traveler and ate little.

Until next time...

June 5, 2009

Good Morning:

I hear the Tri Cities got quite a storm last night!! Hopefully Ken and I will bring sunny weather to you.

I had to turn on the furnace this morning as it was quite cold in the coach. We had it professionally washed yesterday and it looks beautiful.

We will pack it up today and head towards the Tri Cities. Our friends from Eugene, Bob and Colleen Towe will be coming into Horn Rapids today as well so we will finally get to see them!!

We will be going back to the Coast and possibly to Montana this summer, our journey is NOT over. We need to get our house ready to sell and possibly get a realtor involved so that when we are gone someone can show it. We will store Ken's tools in a storage shed (rented) and get the den which has collected all our "catch all" in order to show the house.

Saving all our laundry for my own washer and dryer!!! You don't realize how much you need one until you see all you have to wash. I would gladly give up one of my closet spots for a washer/dryer combo, but don't think Ken will go for it.

We are looking forward to coming home for a while but hope Ken doesn't get too comfortable and not want to go anywhere once we get there.

Our trip has been wonderful and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

Our journey is coming to an end today but I will start my blog up again once we take off for the last leg of our journey.

If you click on any of the photos I have embedded into my blog, it will enlarge it for you.

We will NOT have our land line turned back on so please use our cell phone numbers to call us. We raised our minutes on our cell phone sharing and hopefully we won't go over them. Sometimes 1400 minutes a month goes quickly and sometimes it doesn't. Call us whenever you need us.

Now it's time to take Coco for her morning walk and it is beautiful here in Deerwood today. Everything is so green and lush. A gorgeous Park.

Until later...

June 4, 2009

Morning:

Today is our last day here at Deerwood and Eugene. We met some new friends here and visited with some dear ones. We will miss them all but Ken said we will be back again possibly this summer.

We went to Hendrick's Park here in Eugene and the Rhodies and Azaleas were in full bloom. Sadly though, the did not allow dogs in the Park so we went across the street with Coco and took these photos. This place is beautiful!!! If you ever come to Eugene this time of year, this is the place to visit.

Our trip is NOT over yet. Ken said we will still be going to the Coast this summer and Montana. I can't wait. I love to travel and as long as we can we will do it. Ken is a fabulous tour guide and can tell me about all there is to see when I see it. He has done this so often in his Journeyman days and knows all the great spots.

The rain stops during the day so we can do our thing then at dinner time it starts again which is just fine.

The retired cop from Alaska has a 10 year old Rhodesian Ridge Back dog and he is huge and so gentle. He spotted Coco yesterday while we were outside and rushed over to her to play. She would have nothing to do with that big dog and ran up the stairs inside the motor home. He can't get up the stairs so she was safe. He is so sweet and just wanted to play but you know Coco, no dogs!!!!

Well will close for now. Got to get ready to go to Camping World and Trader Joe's as we didn't do it yesterday. We are having someone come and wash the rig as the bugs are embedded into the paint or so it seems and we don't want to stay here while they are powerwashing it. We'll take Coco with us so she won't have to be here by herself.

Until later...

June 3, 2009

We had quite a rain storm last night with lightening and thunder and some wind.

It made the park here so beautiful and green which it already was but more so.

Ken took some photos of a Rhodie outside our window.

Eugene has a place called Hendricks Park. It has the most beautiful flowering plants I have ever seen. The Rhodies and Azaleas are gorgeous and they get close to 20' high. They have one that is pure white and called the Bridal Veil. Well named as it has so many flowers on it you can't see any foliage at all, just the white flowers. If we get a chance, we will go there and take some photos. Too short a time for us to be here. Since we won't be going to the coast due to the rain, we will be home to the Tri Cities on Friday afternoon late. We want to get the house ready to sell and hopefully go on to Montana to visit friends.

We have had a wonderful vacation and hope we have more to come.

We had dinner with our friends from Eugene, Ken and Cathy McCoy and then we came back here to the motor home and my Ken went and got the next door neighbor as he is a retired cop from Alaska and Ken is a retired Fireman from Alaska and they both seemed to know the same people. Small world. Then the storm came up with thunder and lightening and rain and soon after everyone left. Was wonderful visiting with them. I will miss them a lot when we leave. Not a good thing to see friends just once a year.

We don't have too much planned for the day as it isn't the best day with all the rain and wet outside, but will go somewhere.

Until later...

Morning:
We are in Eugene, OR!!! What a beautiful drive it was from CA to OR everything is so green.

We got our rental car, got Ken's prescription from Walmart and came home for dinner and relaxation.

Today we have to go grocery shopping and maybe do some laundry and meet up with friends from Santa Clara for dinner.

We want to go out to see a friend who deals in motor homes just to see what is out there.

It is cloudy today but so cool!!! After what we have been through with weather this is a welcome change.

Until later...

June 1, 2009

Morning:
We are in Redding, CA and will be headed for Eugene, OR today. We will be there about a week then will drive over to the Coast and relax, just relax. The beach trip is more for Coco as she has been the best pet ever on this trip. So sad when we leave and so very happy when we get home. She was left alone a lot on this trip with us going out shopping, looking for homes, visiting with my daughter, etc. and left her alone only to find a sweet, lonely little puppy waiting for us when we got back. So we decided to take her to the beach and let her run her legs off. Not sure how she will take the ocean but it will be fun to see. Will take photos.

Yesterday, while we were on the Interstate, a motorcycle came flying between us and the other lane of traffic right up the middle. I swear, this state has the worst drivers ever!!! It is such a dangerous situation to put anyone in by driving between cars up the middle of the Interstate going 70MPH, so stupid.

This RV Park is so beautiful here in Redding. The Oleander is in full bloom with white, pink and red flowers and the palms are gorgeous as well. I did find some seeds of the red and pink Oleander so will try to grow them when I get home.

We will be going to Deerwood today. It's been over a year since we were there before but only for a short time as last time I had to get back to work this time, no hurry! Am loving retirement.

Got to get this rig ready for travel so will get off of here.

Until later...

May 31, 2009

Good Morning from Lodi,CA.

It is cool and breezy here this morning and it feels so good.

We all slept like babies last night and today we will be on the road to Redding, CA. Monday we will go to Eugene and stay for a while, not sure how long.

Then we will be either on our way to Lincoln City (Oregon Coast) or Tri Cities, WA (home) either way it's been a great trip and one I won't soon forget.

Got to go help Ken get this rig ready for the road.

Until later...

May 30, 2009

Good Morning:

Well, Ken fought snakes for 132 miles from Needles, CA to Bakersfield, CA in strong side winds, rain, thunder and lightening but we finally got here and now it is calm. His arms aren't sore, though I don't know why the way he was holding on to that stearing wheel. When an 18 wheeler would come by it would blow you over then suck you right back into the oncoming lane, it was a struggle for him but he held his ground!!! Good driver.

Here are some photos Ken took of a bush with beautiful flowers on it just before we left the Needles RV Park. Don't know what they are called but they are everywhere in AZ and CA.

Today we will head out towards Eugene, OR and stop in either Sacramento or Corning (where we buy the best olives in the world) and get more olives. I personally love the garlic stuffed olives, Ken likes the mushroom stuffed, but they have so much.

Can't wait to get to Eugene and visit with everyone. It is so relaxing at Deerwood and hope to spend a day there just doing nothing.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Until later...

May 30, 2009

Good Morning:

May 29, 2009

Good Morning:
We left Arizona yesterday and arrived in Needles, CA. OMG is it ever hot!!! I thought Arizona was hot but his place beats it all.

After we got set up I ventured out to do 4 loads of laundry because where we were staying in El Mirage, AZ their washers were being replaced for 2 weeks, so hence the 4 loads. I still have sheets to do but this is more info than you need as it is.

Ken took some photos last night. Right behind us is a road of palm trees that they light up at night. So when you see them you will know they are palms.

I saw Spidey trying to bask in the sun this morning too and he tried to get away but I caught him, he was fast, which made my photo a little blurry but I got him.

The last photo, if it comes out that way, is a ship Ken saw at one of the stores in Arizona. It is on our buffet with my Lighthouse and looks really nice.

It is hot again this morning and we are headed for Bakersfield, CA on our way to Eugene, OR where we will stay with our friends at Deerwood RV Luxury Resort. We absolutely love it there and if you haven't been there, you have missed out. It is quiet and the water, well, you haven't tasted better water in years I'll bet. Can't wait to get there and visit with all of our friends.

Well,, got to go and get this rig ready to travel.

Until later...

May 28, 2009

Morning:
We took these photos yesterday at Happy Trails RV Resort in Surprise, AZ. This is where we would like to live and went to look at a few possibilities there.
We are leaving today for California, Needles to be exact and then on to Bakersfield then to Eugene, OR on Monday for a while. We will go to Lincoln City, OR in a week or two and then home to Tri Cities.
We have had an awesome trip and the best vacation ever!! I have the most fabulous tour guide in the world and consider myself very lucky to have him.
Must get the motor home ready for travel but wanted you all to see the pictures we took at the cactus garden in Happy Trails. The first 4 photos Ken took last night outside of our motor home.
Until later...

May 27, 2009

Good Morning:
We didn't get our haircuts yesterday as the gal had to take her dad to Urgent Care so we will go today.
We went to dinner at Famous Dave's with Stacy and Gary as they had never been there. It was not as good as the one in the Tri Cities as they put too much sauce on the ribs and it was very salty. The kids enjoyed it though.
We will leave Arizona on Thursday and head for California and then to the Oregon Coast. Haceta Head RV Park is now owned by someone else and it has to be better than the previous owners, they were just awful!! It is close to the beach and this trip is really for Coco as she has been cooped up in the motor home and only going for short walks, so a good, long walk on the beach will be good for her and me.
Ken is going to take some photos today and I will post them in the morning.
Until later...

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

May 26, 2009

Morning:
Today we are going to get haircuts. Stacy and her boyfriend will go at the same time so we will visit for a while. Then Ken and I will be going to a place called Happy Trails, where we lived when we first came to Arizona 9 years ago. We met the nicest people there and loved the place.
At Happy Trails you own the land you purchase and only have to pay $113.00 a month for Association fees for upkeep of the pools, 6 spas, many laundry rooms, showers, restrooms, etc. It is so reasonable compared to others here, for instance, here at Pueblo El Mirage where we are right now, you don't own the land. You pay close to $5,000 a year just for the privilege to live here plus you have to keep up your own property!!! Happy Trails does it for you.
What we will be looking for is a place called an Arizona Room with a large space attached for your motor home. It's like an extra home with kitchen, living room, bedroom, bath, and an outside laundry in the casita. You have a deck and most are already furnished. It's the way to go down here. Then the only thing you need is a golf cart and you are set. We are both looking forward to finding something.
We will leave Arizona tomorrow and head back towards Oregon, then the coast and possibly back to the Tri Cities. We have enjoyed Surprise, AZ so much as there are so many stores and so many restaurants. Tonight we are taking the kids to Famous Dave's for ribs. They have never been there so it will be quite a treat for them.
Hope you all had a safe and healthy Memorial Day.
Until later...

May 25, 2003

UPDATE:
Ken and I went househunting today but we will go inside of them tomorrow and look and will take photos at that time.
This afternoon, on the way home, we stopped at another RV Resort that is half the price of this one (this one still charges winter rates) and took some photos. Here are the two old codgers:

Here are some photos of the Sunflower RV Resort:

After we got home and unloaded some groceries, Ken walked down the street to take a photo of a Bouganvelia tree.

So tonight we are vegging. Salads and fruit for dinner. Sound good? It does to us. Bought some grilled chicken breast slices to put in mine. Yum.

Until tomorrow...

May 24, 2009

Good Morning:
Here we are in El Mirage and the weather is beautiful. Sunny skies and no sign of rain. Even the jets from Luke Air Base were quiet yesterday. Usually they are flying over in formation.
Ken went out last night and took some photos of the sunset. It's not a typical sunset but the pictures came out beautiful.

Today we are going to look at homes here in the Surprise area. Ken and I love this area so much and the town has EVERYTHING to offer in the way of restaurants, shopping, nails, hair, doctors, dentists. Dentists we have never seen so many, on every corner.

When we come home we will empty the garage of tools and put them in storage and anything else that might be of value and put the house up for sale! Now, if anyone wants to buy our Tropi-Cal motor home, contact Chief's RV in Pasco and talk to Ron George, the owner. We need to sell it as well. It is quite roomy and clean and has a large slide-out. Ask the man I worked for before I retired, Tom Franson, he's seen it, he can vouch for it.

We are looking to buy a Chevrolet HHR Panel Van to tow behind the motor home as these car rental agencies will relieve you of every dime you have just to drive their cars. (John get busy and have Danny look next time he's at auction to see what they are going for.)

Ken is going to get his hair cut where my daughter Stacy works on Tuesday and I am hoping Holly will be able to trim mine. This short hair has grown.

I GOT MY VERY FIRST MANICURE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE LAST WEEK AND WAS TREATED TO IT BY STACY!!! It was wonderful. The gal that did it used these little round disks that you would peel a corner of the top and it was like plastic the part that removed polish had a no- lint fiber and could do every finger (all 10) on one pad. I asked where I could get them and ladies if you want them go to Sally's Beauty Supply they are called "Hands Down Ultra" I also bought the pump action polish remover bottle too. Just put one of those little pads on the top of the bottle, pump twice and polish remover is on the disk. Fabulous, don't ever want to be without it!!
Going to finish my coffee with my husband then make our plans for the day.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day and God Bless America!!!

Until later...

May 23, 2009

Morning:
Today it is cool again as it rained during the night. The roads are wet but the air is heavy. Ken is having a hard time breathing but hope as the day goes on it will get better for him, I hope.
I am hoping there is not too much traffic on I17 because when we were coming here going the opposite direction, the traffic was backed up, I swear to New Mexico, due to an accident that stopped traffic for 7 hours. We will get an early start and hope others will stay home until we get to El Mirage. Ha Ha
We unhooked most of the motor home last night and today all we have to do is unhook the water hose and pull in the slides and we are good to go.
My Christmas cactus, which I brought with me, is blooming again. I guess you could say I have a flower each month all year long. It is a double color cactus with red and fuchsia flowers.
Our friends from Yuma/Eugene, Bob and Colleen Towe, will be leaving AZ today as well. They will make their way home via Las Vegas/Montana/WA then Eugene, OR. Ken and I are so sorry we didn't get to see them but hopefully we will when we go to Eugene.
Have a safe and healthy Memorial Day everyone.
Until later...

May 22, 2009

Morning:
As soon as the mail comes we will leave Mesa for El Mirage.
I have located some homes in the Surprise and El Mirage area that are so pretty and in our price range.
Ken said we will look at a few then go back home and get some stuff in storage and put our home up for sale and get it off of the books and that will possibly boost our credit back up somewhat.
We have certainly enjoyed our trip and have met some really nice people.
Today we will go to Camping World in Tempe and then to PetSmart or PetCo whichever one we can find first and take Coco with us. She can go into both stores.
It rained and is cloudy today with sprinkles. It sure does feel good and cooled it off as well.
Will update you as to our leaving Mesa when we get our mail.
Until later...

Thursday, May 21, 2009

May 21, 2009

UPDATE: We will be leaving Mesa, AZ tomorrow sometime as the homes in Queen Creek are within spitting distance of each other and Ken does not like that.
We will be going back to the last resort in El Mirage and look around Sun City. It is so much nicer.
Will let you know when we know.
Until later:

May 21, 2009

Morning:
We have arrived in Mesa, AZ and not quite as hot here yet.
I did laundry and met our next door neighbors from Illinois who are leaving today. Nice people.
Today we will get our rental car and will drive to Queen Creek to look at homes I found on the Internet.
Looks as though it may rain today (with my blessings) as it was raining when we came in and I didn't mind a bit. It actually felt good, cool on the skin for a change.
Not much to add today as once we got here we didn't go anywhere so no news.
Until later...

May 20, 2009

Today is our last day here in El Mirage. I will miss seeing my daughter. Yesterday she treated her Mom to a manicure (which, I might add, I have never had in my lifetime) and it was so nice. My nails have never looked so good!! So sweet of her.
I went to the shop where she works and met everyone and they wouldn't let me pay for a single thing.
These photos were taken inside the coach yesterday. We hurried her out of the shower so she still had wet hair.
She is such a gentle soul and loves life to its fullest. She is grateful for everything she is given and loves to give back whether it be love or gift. I will miss her so much! I am so glad I had the time to spend with her and will NOT let years come between us ever again.
Today we leave El Mirage and head for Mesa, AZ to house hunt in Queen Creek. We will stay at the Arizona Cowboy RV Resort for about a week.
Ken will take the rental car back this morning and we will get out of here.
Until later...

May 19, 2009

Morning.
Ken said that in the night we had thunder and lightening and rain. I was dead to the world and heard nothing!!
Today is our last day here in Surprise and will take Stacy out to lunch and spend the day with her. I will get some photos of her and post them as well.
It has been a beautiful trip thus far and still more fun and beauty on the way. My husband is a wonderful tour guide!!
Can't wait to get to the next RV Resort so that I can do laundry. The laundry facility here is closed as they are putting in brand new washers and dryers.
Will post more later after our day with my daughter.
Until later...

May 18, 2009

UPDATE!!
Ken took these beautiful photos of the RV Resort we are staying in here in El Mirage, AZ.
Hope you enjoy them.
We went to lunch with Stacy and her boyfriend's parents and had a great time. Then we left them and went to Stienmarts to go shopping. If you've never been to Steinmarts, you haven't lived. They have the most beautiful clothing ever and brand names for next to nothing including Izod, etc.
Even got a soft bed for Coco!!
We are going to the Outhouse (Outback) for dinner. Ken always has a name for something.
It's hotter than hell here today so will get off this computer and sit under the AC.
Until tomorrow...

May 18, 2009

Morning: Today a hot 107!!!!!

We didn't spend the day with Stacy yesterday as she was doing laundry and was somewhat under the weather so today we will make up for that. Having lunch with her boyfriend's parents and hopefully visiting with Stacy.
Coco is such a good dog. She just goes with the flow and acclimates herself to wherever we go. She fits in so well.
Going to take some photos of the buildings surrounding the complex we are staying in and they are really southwestern.
We went swimming yesterday Ken and I and had a nice time.
Watched the end of Survivor Thank God, and hope the next one doesn't come on for several months. It is NOT my favorite. I would rather watch the Amazing Race anytime.
Need to take the trash out front as they will be coming for it soon. They only come twice a week.
Have a ton of laundry and will do it when we get to Mesa. We will be staying at the Arizona Cowboy RV Resort. Look it up.
Stay warm you all, we will also try to do the same.
Until later...

May 17, 2009

Another hot day in Paradise.
Today I will spend the afternoon with my daughter and then we will all go out to dinner together.
Tomorrow, Monday, we will meet Gary's parents at the Sky Restaurant and have lunch. Looking forward to it.
I got up before Ken this morning as I smelled the coffee and got it ready last night. Wasn't sure if it would come on by itself as it is a tricky coffee pot, but it did, right on time.
Ken taught me a little trick. Once you get the grounds in there or just before you add the beans, sprinkle a little salt in the filter and it will take the bitterness out of the coffee. It does work for all of you doubting people.
We spoke with our realtor yesterday so now she knows just what we are looking for.
Gas here is only $2.01 for regular and $2.19 for diesel. Pretty reasonable. Also we saw a beautiful patio set with a long rectangular table with 6 chairs for $399. I think it is much more reasonable to live here then up there.
Well, have to go look up some homes on the Internet for Ken this morning so might do it while he is still sleeping.
Until later...

May 16, 2009

Good Morning!!
Another beautiful day and it will get to 101 today and 105 on Monday. AC is working good.
We rented a car and got a squirrel cage (PT Cruiser) but believe it or not, it is just fine. AC works really well.
Spidey tried to get away today first on the palm tree then on the orange tree but I was able to get him back. There is an oleander tree behind us in full bloom and took a photo of it as well.
I wish I knew how to insert my photos where I want them instead of always at the top. Makes me crazy. Guess I will take the tutorial if all else fails.
The last photo is of the deserted street we are parked on with hardly no motor homes. We have abut 6 neighbors next door and across from us.
Ken is going to crock pot a roast today and we will go visit Stacy at work for a few. We will have lunch on Monday with Gary's parents on Monday.
Last night we took Stacy and Gary to Sweet Tomatoes Restaurant. Ken and I just love this place and the closest one to us in the Tri Cities is in Beaverton, OR. It is all great salads of every kind imaginable and 7 different homemade soups and some pasta with meat and vegetables. So good. Can't believe they have never been there and I asked Gary if he thought they would go there on their own and he said "yes, definitely!"
Got the AC on already as it is really hot.
Did any of you watch Farrah's Story last night? It was so sad and so wonderful all at the same time. What a brave woman she is. I would be screaming 'drugs' and put me out of my misery!!
I know none of you will believe this but I had to invest in fake fingernails. 'Kiss' is the name of them and you just stick them on your nails no glue to apply. I filed them when I got home and I hate them. My nails are destroyed from this trip and all the things you have to do for a motor home inside and out. Oh well, I'm retired, no public to impress anymore. These fakes will come off today and I will somehow make my own look decent if it's the last thing I do!!
We went to our favorite haunt (discount clothing store) and Ken found me the most adorable purse, straw and brown leather, and a bathing suit. I told him that Omar the Tent Maker was waiting for me.
Time to go take our showers so will shut down for now.
Until later...

Good Morning!
Got to visit with my daughter yesterday and it was SOOOOOOOOOOOO good to see her. We are going to dinner with Stacy and her friend Gary tonight and will make arrangements to meet with Gary's parents for either dinner or lunch this week. We will stay here in Surprise, AZ until May 20th then go over to Mesa, AZ and stay at the Arizona Cowboy RV Resort.
We will make arrangement to meet with our realtor and look at homes.
Ken is not sure if we will be going to Missouri due to the terrible weather they are having, like tornadoes, etc.
Will take some photos and include them in another post.
We will get our rental car today and go grocery shopping!
Until later...

May 14, 2009

Indio, CA is beautiful!
It was 98 when we arrived yesterday and will only get hotter from here.
We leave Indio today for Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort, Surprise, AZ to visit my daughter Stacy for a week. It will be so good to see her, I have missed her terribly!
We will get a rental car today and go grocery shopping, a much needed trip I must add.
Last night about 8, Ken and I walked over to the pool area and he went in and took a shower and I went swimming in the pool. It was delightful. Then jumped into the spa then back into the pool again. Now I think a tent swimming suit is needed for me as I didn't bring mine. I wore shorts and a top and that just didn't cut it.
Where I worked at National City Mortgage Company before I retired, my boss, Tom Franson and I had a standing joke about a small rubber spider that we would hide on each other and it would pop up at the most rediculous places in the office. It's name was 'Spidey' and when I left, I took Spidey. I told Tom I kidnapped it and that he would find photos of Spidey from all parts of the country and eventually he would get it back. Spidey is missing a wing and a few legs but still can travel.
Still can't figure out how to get the photo I want planted right where I want so Spidey is our opening topic today I guess.
I have all the windows open this morning and a nice breeze is coming in.
We will leave here around 10 today and head to Surprise, AZ (Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort)it should take about 5 hours but at least we will be out of the traffic.
Umtil later...

May 13, 2003

Morning all:
Today we leave California. We had dinner at Ken's Aunt Quete's and his cousins all came for dinner. We had a great time visiting and catching up.
Kens other Cousin Gary and his wife Francie could not be there as their son was having heart surgery. We all pray for his quick recovery.
His Uncle Charles could not be with us either as he was not feeling well but was going to the doctor today. Pains in his chest. I wish he had gone to a hospital last night and not waited until today.
One of our Aunts will call and let us know how he is. Our love and thoughts are with you Uncle Charles.
Ken is still having a tough time breathing this morning but as soon as we get the rental car back, we will head out of here and go to a lower elevation even if it's only 200 miles from here. We are still on vacation so no hurry to get anywhere.
We both forgot our cameras yesterday so I don't have any photos to add. Ken did take some from Santa Ana but didn't bring his cord to connect to the computer.
Got to go take Coco for her morning constitution so will go for now.
Until later...

May 12, 2009

Good Morning!
Our drive to Santa Ana was an experience I NEVER want again! The traffic was horrendous and so much speed and cutting in and out. Motorcycles don't wait behind cars they go right between them!!! OMG, it was terrible.
Our visit was wonderful. Beverly, Kens friends wife, was so kind and nice and what a beautiful home! The outside was like Paradise.
We hated to leave her but we knew we had a long drive back through all that hateful traffic.
We did find out that the elevation here is 4200 feet not 3200 feet as we first thought and it is really bothering Kens breathing so much so we have decided to leave tomorrow for Arizona where he will be able to walk and not have to gasp for air. We were at a lower elevation when we were in Santa Ana and it felt good to him.
We will go to his Aunt Quete's home today, finish up my laundry, have dinner with all of his relatives, I can't wait to see them all as they are such a nice group of people, and head back to the motor home to get ready for the journey to Arizona.
We were hoping to meet up with friends from Eugene, OR who winter in Yuma but their new coach (motor home) has a few problems and they need to take care of them, one being the air conditioner! You can't be without one in this country, not now, now this month!! So hopefully we will see them on the road as our journey progresses. Hope so.
Will spend a few days in Surprise, AZ so that I can visit with my daughter Stacy then on to Mesa, AZ where we will stay for a week or more to look at homes there in Queen Creek. Will take some photos when we get there.
Coco is really a wonderful pet. She has been so perfect and has been invited to Aunt Quete's home for dinner as well.
Until later...

May 11, 2009

Another beautiful day here in California.
Today we drive to Santa Ana to visit Ken's friends widow, Beverly. It is about an hour drive from here but the scenery will be beautiful unless the traffic is bad then I'll miss it by being on the floorboards!
We are taking Coco with us as it is just too long to leave her alone and besides, Beverly wants to meet her.
Ken and I had breakfast with Uncle Charles and it was so nice to see him again. We came back to show him the motor home, chatted a bit then he left as he had errands to run.
Got to get a move on this morning but wanted to show you all this photo. We went to Ross's yesterday because Ken hated, absolutely hated the bedspread we had on the bed as it just kept slipping off so he chose this one and it is quite pretty and came with 3 little pillows to boot.
Wish I knew why when I want a photo to go one place, it puts it in another place entireley.
Time to get a move on so will write when we get home from our trip.
Until later...

May 10, 2009

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU ALL!!
It has been quite a trip with warm weather and a breeze.
This morning when I opened the blinds you could see the moon just over the Sierra Mountains. Beautiful.
We are having brunch with Ken's Uncle Charles today.
Tomorrow, Monday, we will drive to Santa Ana to visit a buddy's wife, she is a widow and has MS, for a while and take Coco with us. It is an hours drive or more but I'm sure the scenery will be beautiful it's the traffic I hate. These California drivers have absolutely no regard for anyone on the road but themselves and it shows. There must be an auto body shop on every corner in this state and I certainly know why!!!
Ken is having a terrible time breathing here as the elevation is over 3200 feet. Can't wait to get down where the breathing will be easier for him.
Well, want to drink my coffee while it is hot.
Until later...

May 9, 2009

What a beautiful morning! It was 93 here yesterday and hot.
GET ME OUT OF CALIFORNIA!!!! These people drive like they just escaped from a mental asylum and don't give a damn about anyone on the road but themselves, scares me to death and we will be here until next Wednesday the 13th!
We went to K-Mart yesterday to get some sandals and summer tops for me and while we were checking out I thought I heard someone screaming, be it a baby or grownup, but I did hear screams. The cashier told me it was a man going ballistic so we checked out and as we were walking to our car I told Ken, no sooner got it out of my mouth and police cars, motorcycle cops came screaming up and ran inside. Then another one came and parked right next to us in the Handicap space (hum, thought only people with disabilities were to park there) and jumped out of the car and ran inside. There must have been 6 police cars there! Poor man, never found out what happened to him.
We left there and got gas and then went to Weinerschnitzel for a delicious hot dog for dinner (hey, we are on vacation, we can eat whatever we want for dinner)and then came home.
Today we will go to see Ken's Aunt Helen and possibly her son Larry and his wife Cathy and have lunch.
No plans after that except come home and relax.
Until later...

May 8, 2009

We are now is Hesperia, CA. Weather here is hot, like 89!! The altitude is high desert and Ken is having a hard time breathing so we will take it easy today and go visit his Aunt Quete and do laundry and relax. It is really beautiful here in this RV Park and will try to get some photos to include later. A big 45 footer came in last night with a tow vehicle, think it was a Country Coach Lexa.
We have stayed here every time we have come to visit except once and we won't do that again. It is called Desert Willow. Not a willow tree on the property!!
We went to Chili's for dinner last night and Oh My Gosh, what a noisey place!!! People just don't make their children mind anymore. They were screaming on top of their lungs and running around. I couldn't wait to eat and get out of there!! It was AWFUL!
This town has really grown since we were here last in 2004, but what town hasn't?
Until later...

May 7, 2009

Morning all. Today we leave Bakersfield, CA for Hesperia, CA to settle down for about 7 days. We will visit Ken's family, whom I just adore, and from there on to Arizona!!!
It is gorgeous here this morning so got the coffee made and headed for the showers.
Need to drink my coffee and get the dishes done so that I can help Ken put everything away and head south.
We will rent a car when we get to Hesperia and head to Walmart for some much needed supplies. Then on to a grocery store for some food.
The electrician friend next door to us here sells things for dogs that his wife sews. They too are retired and we bought a couple of darling visors for Coco. It fits over her ears and velcro's under her chin. So cute.
Thank you all so much for sending comments, I read them every day and all the new ones come to me as an email. Keep sending me those comments, Ken and I love them.
Until later...

May 6, 2009

What a beautiful morning!! It is 70 and walked Coco to her little area.
We have decided to stay here another day. It is a beautiful park and everyone so friendly, (as I have said before about RV people that they are the nicest people and will remain a friend over the years). Ken and I have several friends that we have made from Deerwood RV Park in Eugene and we still keep in touch and see them at least twice a year.
By the way, this RV Park will allow you to wash your entire rig right in your space and it needs it from all the bugs we murdered on our trip here. This Park is spotless. Nice pool too. The cost was the least as well and it is the best one we have stayed in. In California, they recognize Veterans and will give you a discount on your bill. We are Good Sam members but she saw Ken's hat and asked him so that gave us the discount I'm not sure I have seen this anywhere else. It was nice.
We have to get a tow car. Not being able to go anywhere or do anything is awful. In my hurry to load the coach, I forgot to bring my USB cord for the printer so can't print anything but we will see a Walmart or something on our drive and pull in and buy one, no big deal.
Ken has been doing a great job driving and staying calm. Me, on the other hand, have to hold on when we pass the 18 wheelers. As Ken says, "she drives, all I do is steer and move the peddles!"
We are barefoot or in socks here inside, NO SHOES!! Even Coco gets her feet wiped sometimes.
Well, must get busy and help Ken with the outside.
As you have noticed, we are sleeping later these days. Coco doesn't wake us until after 6:30 AM.
Until later...

May 5, 2009

OMG!! It is so hot here in Bakersfield, CA and I love it!! It is 82 anc climbing. We are in A Country RV Resort and it is so beautiful. Talk about coincidences, the guy next to us is a retired electrician from Ken's local!!!
Since we didn't tow a vehicle behind the motor home we are kind of strapped for shopping or going to restaurants so I will have left over spaghetti and salad.
We might stay here another night as it is such a nice place and oh so clean. The lawn is neat. It is a putting green everywhere.
Well, will get off of this thing and sit still so I can catch the breeze coming in the windows.
Until later...

May 5, 2009

What a beautiful morning! The sun is shining and the rain has stopped.
We will be going to Bakersfield, CA for the night. It is a 5 hour drive from here and we will continue to relax.
We are going over to take our showers in a few after we have our coffee.
Nothing new to report for today but maybe in the morning.
Until later...

May 4, 3009

...and I forgot some things that needed to be added from our trip yesterday.
We saw 3 bald eagles next to the road and so many egrets we can't count them all. The egrets were all white and so beautiful.
We are here in Lodi, CA at a beautiful RV Park called
Flag City RV Resort. It has some gorgeous rigs in here and the flowers, all around your coach instead of grass. I will have Ken take some pictures and send them out.
We are all set up and I got vacuumed inside so now I can sit and just rest.
It is too far for Ken to walk to get dinner since we don't have a tow rig so I will cook chicken fried steak, fresh WA asparagus and scalloped potatoes. Hum, that even sounds good to me.
Coco got on the bed last night and stayed under the covers all night. The only time she moved is when I put her between the two of us and then she went right back to sleep until after 6 this morning. She is such a good traveler.
It is 73 degrees here, breezy and absolutely delightful. My arthritis fingers feel wonderful.
Until later...

May 4, 2009

FINALLY!!! We drove from Kennewick, WA to Redding, CA. 600 miles. We won't do that again it is just too tiring but there was snow in La Pine near Bend, OR and we wanted to get out of the mountains. So here we are. Here are a couple of photos Ken took of the rig and surrounding area, so pretty. Today we are driving to Corning, CA to the Olive Pit, yum! Then on to Lodi, CA where we have made reservations.
We at dinner at 9:00 pm last night, too late, much too late and didn't get to bed until after 10:00 pm. So tonight we will watch TV, relax and enjoy some of our stuffed olives.
Ken is doing his nebulizer this morning and took his dieretic and then off on our journey once again. It is cloudy but who cares, it is warm.
The motorhome drove like a dream and as Ken says, I drive, he just steers and moves the peddles.
Until later...

Sunday, May 3, 2009

May 3, 2009

Today is the day!!! We will load the last of our needed items into the coach and move forward to the hot country! It has been raining for the past 2days and it is going to get worse today as the winds will come up to about 40 and possibly some hail!! Yuk.
Time to get a move on and take Coco to the Park for her morning constitution and short walk. Then home and start our new adventure. We are both excited to get going and hope the weather holds up for us just until we get to Bend or close to that area. We are going to take it slow and easy and just really enjoy all there is to see.
Send us a note once in a while, would love to hear from you.
Until later...

May 2, 2009

Today we finish loading what we will not need until tomorrow morning when we load up our toiletries and we are OUT OF HERE!!!! We will probably stop in Bend or Corvalis for the night. We have decided to take our time and not push this trip as it will make it easier on both of us not to tire out too quickly. We want to enjoy it all.
We have tried everything that the coach has to offer and it all works well.
Coco doesn't know exactly what is happening but she makes herself very comfortable when she goes in the motor home. She blends right in with her coloring and the colors inside the coach.
I hope we get some sleep tonight. I know Ken will, he doesn't get like me. I get so excited thinking about all we are going to do and see that sleep won't come easy.
We saw another place in California called Borrego Springs. They have some beautiful homes for sale there and they are quite reasonable. It is a gorgeous community for Seniors. I believe the youngest you can be is 45 but no children. We might check it out on our way to Arizona.
No rest for the weary, got to go load more stuff and put it away.
Until later...

May 1, 2009

We got most of our belongings put away in the motor home. What a back breaking day we had.

Today I will get groceries and fill up the fridge for the trip.

Here is a photo that our friends John and Sheila Archibald took when they came over to see the coach. I will add that John drove up in a Hummer H2 and all I wanted to know was Can We Tow It?!!! The thing is a tank!!

Anyway, here is that old couple that will be driving this rig, old and tired out. We need this trip to rest and relax.
Not sure if we will get on the road tomorrow, Saturday, or Sunday.
Until later...
